Gold SEO Tips! – How Google rates links from Sites Such as Facebook & Twitter

Guaranteed Search Engine Optimization

by Richard on February 18, 2010

A few red hot SEO tips straight from the horse’s mouth.  Watch the video below but be careful to note these 2 important points.

1. Google does NOT treat links from .Edu or .Gov domains any differently that it does links from any other site.

2.  For Google ( or any search engine) to crawl and index your Facebook pages you need to configure your privacy settings to allow this.

I’m re-thinking what I thought I knew before reading this. Thanks for a well written piece that breaks through the fog to present a clear picture on a fascinating subject. [editted]………….

Hi Richard,

I am actually not clear what you are explaining here. I do understand that Google treats all links the same with respect to PR and if the links are crawled and not no-followed.

So is it a complete and utter fallacy that as a general rule links from .edu and .gov sites are more likely to hold more weight with Google? While specific .gov and .edu’s may not?

If I may suggest, when working on back-links the focus should be on obtaining targeted relevant traffic. Some of which will help your ranking while others may only drive some traffic, but that is the purpose of getting rank.

Steve
